Job Description

Category Nursing - RN-Stepdown Job Type Contract Stepdown Registered Nurses are integral to delivering patient-centered, relationship-based care in a dynamic healthcare environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient health and recovery by combining clinical expertise, compassionate care, and strong communication skills within a multidisciplinary team.
Schedule/Hours:
Contract position; shifts and duration to be confirmed during the hiring process.
Key Qualifications:
Active RN license Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification Basic Life Support (BLS) certification NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification Prior experience in stepdown or similar acute care nursing roles Strong assessment, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to safely manage nurse to patient ratios of 1:5 or 1:6 Flexibility to float to inpatient units as needed (SDU, MCU, medical/surgical floors, emergency department for boarded patients across designated facilities) Commitment to collaborative practice and continuous professional development
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver age-specific, safe, and efficient nursing care to diverse patient populations using best practices and established protocols Implement the nursing process to address patient needs and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes Demonstrate advanced technical skills, ensuring safe and effective care delivery Communicate clearly with patients, families, and team members to provide updates, education, and emotional support Serve as a resource for peers; contribute to quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional growth Exhibit leadership qualities, influencing positive clinical and operational results Perform RN duties as assigned to support fluctuating patient care requirements Work with a supportive team in a collaborative environment where clinical excellence and patient safety are at the forefront.
