Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive mental health care within a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background, exceptional assessment skills, and a commitment to delivering patient-centered care. As a Psychiatric RN, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with diverse mental health needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, or acute psychiatric conditions. Your expertise will contribute to creating a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and well-being. Duties Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient evaluations and medical history. Administer medications accurately, including injections and IV infusions, while monitoring for adverse reactions and effectiveness. Provide direct patient care in various settings such as inpatient units, outpatient clinics, assisted living facilities, or community programs. Assist with specialized treatments including Botulinum toxin treatments for applicable cases and other therapeutic interventions. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care, discharge planning, and case management efforts aligned with patient needs. Maintain detailed and accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies to support ongoing recovery. Implement safety protocols and crisis intervention techniques in accordance with trauma medicine standards and level I trauma center practices. Experience Valid RN license with current registration to practice in the relevant jurisdiction. Prior experience working in behavioral health settings, including psychiatric units or mental health clinics. Demonstrated proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for documentation and patient management. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer's care), or in memory care environments. Critical care experience preferred, including ICU or emergency room settings involving acute pain management and trauma medicine. Knowledge of psychiatric medications administration, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and CPT coding for billing purposes. Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterile processing procedures within hospital or outpatient settings. Strong understanding of mental health assessment tools, triage procedures, and behavioral health protocols aligned with NCQA standards.
