GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Nursing Manager and other agency physicians and to the extent permitted by Federal and State regulations, the primary functions of this position are to handle and dispense medication, manage the Central Pharmacy function, screen and handle any questions and concerns from clients regarding medical issues, assist the psychiatrists and Nurse Practitioners in their roles, and assess physical health concerns of clients.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. With specific medical authorization and orders from the prescribing physician, administer/dispense a variety of medications to clients. Check behavior and record necessary vital signs and reactions. 2. Assist agency physicians through the observation and recording of client behavior, condition, and response to medication. 3. Maintain, order, record, and store prescribed medications and other medical supplies. 4. Provide emergency care and first aid services as needed. 5. In absence of a physician, assess clients during crisis regarding medication and health issues and take appropriate action. 6. Assist clients in need of medication monitoring by taking necessary appropriate measures. 7. Maintain all aspects of Central Pharmacy per all applicable guidelines. 8. Complete all documentation within 48 hours of initiation in accordance to the agency policies. 9. Maintain current knowledge of all applicable F&CS policies and procedures and function according to these standards. 10. Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all pertinent federal, state, and local laws; standards of the Ohio Department of Mental Health; and appropriate professional ethical standards. 11. Other duties as assigned. RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS
1. Specialized knowledge of adults and children with mental illness and psychotropic medications and side-effects. 2. Knowledge in the implementation of currently applicable diagnostic standards. 3. The ability to establish and maintain clinically effective relationships. 4. Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal back ground check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation) if applicable.MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
The position requires a nursing degree from an accredited institution which meets the requirements for Registered Nurse status in the State of Ohio. All licenses/certifications applicable to Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
