A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join a busy GI ambulatory surgery center in Dayton, Ohio. The RN will support patients throughout the Pre-Op, Procedure Room, and PACU areas while working closely with physicians and the clinical team. The center has 3 procedure rooms operating on a 30-minute schedule, creating a fast-paced environment where strong organization, communication, and patient care skills are essential. This is a great opportunity for an RN looking to transition from the hospital setting into an outpatient environment with no weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, or on-call requirements.
Responsibilities:
Pre-Op Review patient medical history, medications, allergies, and relevant clinical information Prepare patients for scheduled GI procedures Start and maintain IV lines Administer pre-operative medications and eye drops as needed Verify the scheduled procedure with the patient Confirm informed consents and required documentation are complete Provide patient education and answer questions regarding the procedure and recovery process Ensure patients are appropriately prepared and cleared for their procedure PACU / Recovery Monitor and assess patients following procedures Obtain and monitor vital signs and assess patient recovery Evaluate patients for readiness for discharge Provide detailed discharge instructions to patients and caregivers Educate patients and caregivers regarding post-procedure care and follow-up Recognize and appropriately respond to changes in patient condition Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care Additional Responsibilities Assist in procedure rooms and support physicians and clinical staff as needed Support the center's phone line and patient communication needs Cross-train to support multiple areas of the center as training progresses Document patient care accurately in the EMR Learn and utilize gMed, a gastroenterology-specific EMR system; training will be provided Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection control, regulatory, and organizational standards Collaborate with team members to maintain efficient patient flow Remain flexible and open to providing support at other GI centers when needed
Required Qualifications:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Ohio Graduation from an accredited nursing program Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience BLS and ACLS certifications Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Background:
Open to a variety of nursing backgrounds. Previous GI or surgery center experience is not required.
Preferred Qualifications:
IV insertion and IV management experience Previous ambulatory surgery center experience GI, endoscopy, or procedural nursing experience PACU, Pre-Op, OR, or other outpatient procedural experience Experience working in a fast-paced clinical environment
Schedule:
Monday-Friday ASC operates from approximately 7:00 AM-4:00 PM First team member arrives as early as 5:45 AM Team typically leaves between 4:00 PM-6:00 PM, depending on the physician schedule 4x10 or 5x8 schedules available Rotating opening and closing responsibilities
