Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Operating Room Nurse to join our healthcare team, providing exceptional perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Duties Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and sterile techniques are in place prior to procedures. Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgeries by providing appropriate instrumentation, maintaining sterile fields, and monitoring patient vital signs. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments before surgery, including reviewing medical histories and current medications. Administer medications, including IV infusions and injections, following strict protocols while adhering to HIPAA and healthcare regulations. Monitor patients' physiological responses during procedures, managing airway devices such as ventilators and performing emergency interventions if necessary. Document all aspects of patient care accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner. Manage post-operative recovery by assessing patient status, managing pain, and coordinating discharge planning with multidisciplinary teams. Ensure compliance with nursing policies, long-term care regulations, and infection control standards. Supervise nursing staff and collaborate with management to optimize workflow efficiency and patient safety. Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to surgical services and patient care standards. Experience Proven experience working as an Operating Room Nurse or in a similar acute care setting with exposure to surgical environments. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth. Critical care experience in settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques relevant to perioperative care. Familiarity with advanced procedures including cardiac catheterization, spinal taps, or laparoscopic surgeries is advantageous. Experience administering medications via various routes including IV insertion and catheterization techniques. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations along with medical documentation standards. Supervising or nurse management experience is preferred for leadership roles within the operating room team. Ability to perform physical examinations and assessments efficiently while maintaining sterile technique. Excellent communication skills for managing multidisciplinary teams and providing clear instructions during high-pressure situations.
