Job Description

Mercy is seeking an RN for our Specialty Clinic in the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you'll provide patient-centered care, coordinate treatments, and support providers across a variety of specialties. You'll perform assessments, administer medications, educate patients and families, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for specialty clinic patients and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with providers Administer medications, injections, and IV therapies according to provider orders and clinical protocols Provide pre- and post-procedure care, including patient preparation, monitoring, and follow-up instructions Conduct in-person and telephone triage using established protocols to prioritize patient needs and guide appropriate care Coordinate care, referrals, and follow-up appointments with physicians, advanced practice providers, and ancillary services Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and self-care strategies to support optimal outcomes Document all assessments, interventions, and patient communications accurately and timely in the electronic health record Monitor and report changes in patient condition, escalating concerns to providers and responding to urgent issues promptly Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards within the clinic environment Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to enhance clinic workflows, patient experience, and clinical outcomes Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support efficient clinic operations and high-quality specialty care Engage in ongoing education, competencies, and training relevant to the clinic specialty, and support onboarding or mentoring of newer staff as appropriate Required Skills Patient assessment Care planning IV insertion and management Medication administration Electronic Health Records (EHR) documentation Specialty clinic triage (phone and in-person) Care coordination Patient and family education Wound care and dressing changes Diagnostic test preparation and follow-up Infection control practices Clinical protocol adherence Interdisciplinary team collaboration Time management Clinical decision-making Vital signs monitoring and interpretation Pre- and post-procedure care Quality and safety reporting Patient advocacy Basic life support (BLS)
