Advanced Level RN Opportunity The successful Correctional RN can perform assigned nursing responsibilities without assistance and is recognized as a knowledgeable clinical resource when difficult questions or patient-care concerns arise. Key RN Responsibilities Provide professional nursing care and treatment to inmates and detainees. Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans. Administer prescribed medications and treatments and monitor patients' responses. Recognize changes in patients' conditions and initiate appropriate clinical or emergency interventions. Maintain accurate electronic medical records, medication-administration records, and required clinical documentation. Collaborate with physicians, supervisors, correctional personnel, and interdisciplinary healthcare professionals. Follow all nursing, infection-control, safety, confidentiality, and correctional-security requirements. Core Nursing Competencies Comprehensive patient assessment and care-plan development Medication administration, IV therapy, and clinical treatments CPR, first aid, oxygen administration, and emergency response Wound care, catheter care, infection control, and specimen collection Electronic medical record documentation and professional communication Minimum Qualifications Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license or qualifying temporary practice permit. Ability to enter and maintain patient information in an electronic medical records system. Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office. Strong clinical assessment, communication, organization, and documentation skills. Ability to exercise independent professional judgment within the RN scope of practice.
