Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed health histories to inform personalized care plans. Administer medications via injections, IV infusions, catheterizations, and other methods following strict protocols and safety standards. Manage complex medical procedures such as ventilator support, tube feeding, wound suturing, and sterile dressing changes with precision and care. Utilize electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) like Epic or Cerner to document patient interactions accurately while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Provide education on disease management—including Alzheimer's care, dementia support, pain management techniques, and medication adherence—to patients and caregivers. Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies tailored to individual needs. Respond promptly to triage calls or urgent situations using your emergency medicine experience or ICU background to stabilize patients effectively in their homes. Experience Proven nursing experience in diverse settings such as hospital medicine, ICU, emergency room, skilled nursing facilities, or hospice care. Demonstrated expertise working with geriatric populations and individuals with developmental disabilities or chronic conditions like Alzheimer's disease or memory care needs. Hands-on experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, catheter care, infection control practices, and advanced life support (CPR/BLS). Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient care activities. Knowledge of long-term care regulations, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and medical terminology essential for precise recordkeeping. Experience working in high-acuity environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers is highly valued. Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages—including children (pediatric experience), neonates (neonatal ventilator), and seniors—while demonstrating physiology knowledge and excellent caregiver communication skills.
