Staff Nurse, Inpatient Behavioral Health (RN) - Day Shift

Job Description

The Behavioral Health RN provides safe, therapeutic, and patient-centered nursing care to individuals experiencing mental health and behavioral health conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Day Shift, 7a-7p Key Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to behavioral health patients in accordance with hospital policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including mental status examinations, risk assessments, and ongoing evaluations Administer medications and monitor for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions Implement individualized care plans and participate in treatment team meetings Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, including de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention when necessary Accurately document patient care, observations, and interventions in the electronic medical record Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to support patient recovery Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies Uphold patient confidentiality and demonstrate respect, dignity, and empathy at all times Support unit operations during night shift, including patient monitoring, admissions, and emergency response as needed Qualifications Current Pennsylvania RN license in good standing Graduate of an accredited nursing program Previous experience in behavioral health, mental health, or psychiatric nursing preferred (new graduates encouraged to apply) Current BLS/CPR certification Strong communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm, professional, and compassionate in challenging situations Why Join Warren General Hospital?
