Job Description

UPMC is hiring a Professional Staff Nurse for our ICU team. In this role, you will deliver high-acuity, evidence-based care to critically ill patients within a leading, mission-driven academic health system. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, continuous monitoring, ventilator and medication management, central line and invasive device care, and accurate EHR documentation. You will collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and families, support quality and safety initiatives, and engage in ongoing education and professional development to advance critical care practice and patient outcomes. Responsibilities Deliver direct critical care to ICU patients, including assessment, monitoring, and interventions. Administer medications, manage ventilators, and perform complex nursing procedures safely. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members on individualized care plans. Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and post-ICU care needs. Document care accurately in the EHR and follow all regulatory and hospital policies. Participate in quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and unit-based initiatives. Maintain competencies through ongoing education, training, and certification.
