What they do
A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Minimum Qualifications Degrees:
- Bachelors in Nursing
- Masters in Health Science Informatics, or Masters in Nursing with Informatics focus or; if MSN/Masters in informatics is not held a certificate in Nursing Informatics required.
Licenses & Certification:
Registered Nurse:
Licensed to practice in the State of TexasNursing Informatics Certification:
obtainable within 2 years of hire for informatics focused degree- Epic certification (Preferred)
- Basic Life Support from approved American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
Program Work Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience: Recent (within the last 2 years) onsite clinical or healthcare experience.

- Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with interdisciplinary health care members providing care for highly complex patients

- Knowledge and skills in quality improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of the nursing process and nursing practice and policy
- Knowledge of inpatient, emergency center, procedural area workflows for nursing
- Knowledge of mandates of regulatory and accrediting bodies
- Knowledge of workflow mapping for current state and future state processes
- Knowledge of current literature that impacts technology/information needs as well as financial management
