Job Summary Join our dedicated team at Essence Hospice as a Per-Diem On-Call Hospice Nurse (LVN) Runner, where your proactive approach and clinical expertise will ensure seamless patient care delivery in a compassionate hospice environment. As a nurse on-call runner, you will be on standby to receive calls from our after
  • hours answering service, NurseCom, for any patient needs after hours and to complete in-person nurse visits in Orange County. Even if you do not go out on any visits you will get paid a standby rate for the shift
  • $23/hour. Each visit completed is paid an additional rate per-visit, plus mileage at current federal rate. Up to 40 hours per week available. On-Call Shifts are scheduled in 8 hour blocks, with a mandatory meal period of 30 minutes.
  • We are seeking applicants who can provide at least 8 hours availability per week.

  • 5:00pm to 1:00am, 1:00am to 9:00am Saturday-Sunday
  • 1:00am to 9:00am, 9:00am to 5:00pm & 5:00pm to 1:00am Responsibilities Provide after hours nursing support to our patients.
Communicate quickly and effectively with our answering service NurseCom and/or Administrator On-Call. In-person nursing visits must be performed within 1 hour of phone call; as needed. Charting must be completed within 24 hours of visit. Support catheterization procedures, Foley catheter care, tube feeding management, and other bedside interventions following aseptic techniques. Monitor patient condition changes through observation and documentation review; communicate findings clearly to the nursing team. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation of all activities performed during runs in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Requirements Valid nursing license, LVN Required, with current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Must have valid Driver's License and Auto Insurance. TB testing. Must have reliable transportation in order to perform patient visits and must be able to cover our complete service area for the duration of your shift; all of Orange County. Selected applicants must successfully complete a background screening, pre-employment physical and drug screening to begin employment. Proven experience in nursing practices such as patient assessment, physical examinations, catheterization, and medication administration. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review processes. Ability to perform Foley catheter care, and tube feeding procedures with precision. Strong understanding of physiology and anatomy relevant to hospice care settings. Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to end-of-life care. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information.

From $23.00 per hour Expected hours: No more than 40.0 per week
