ABOUT SHIELD CARE

Shield Care provides personalized in-home support designed around the individual—not simply a schedule of tasks. Our model brings together Care Partners, nursing support, care coordination, family communication, training, and technology to help families better understand who is providing care, what happened during care, and what comes next. We're looking for a Registered Nurse who wants to remain clinically involved without necessarily taking on a traditional full-time nursing schedule or administrative management position. As an RN Shield Care Partner , you'll serve as a trusted clinical resource for clients, families, and the caregivers providing day-to-day support.

THE ROLE

This position centers around four responsibilities: Family Support & Nursing Assessment You'll meet clients and families, complete appropriate nursing assessments, identify relevant clinical considerations, and help families understand how Shield's care model supports their individual needs. You'll help identify changes, risks, limitations, and concerns that should be incorporated into the client's care plan or escalated to an appropriate healthcare provider. Care Plan Review & Approval ShieldOS helps organize client intake information and generate structured draft care plans. The RN Care Partner provides the professional nursing judgment. You'll review applicable ShieldOS-generated care plans, compare them against available assessment information, modify or customize clinically relevant components as appropriate, identify areas requiring additional assessment or clarification, and electronically approve applicable nursing/clinical components before they are represented as RN-reviewed. We're hiring for your nursing judgment not to burden you with stress of admin work. When clinically significant changes occur, you may reassess the client and update or approve applicable care-plan modifications. Caregiver Training & Competency You'll participate in Shield Care Academy and ongoing caregiver education.

Training responsibilities may include:

Recognizing and reporting changes in condition Fall prevention and response Mobility and transfer safety Infection prevention Skin-integrity awareness Nutrition and hydration concerns Dementia and cognitive-support considerations Emergency recognition and escalation Documentation of objective observations Client-specific health and safety considerations Scope and boundaries between personal care and nursing care You'll also evaluate designated hands-on caregiver competencies and identify when additional training or remediation is required. Where applicable and legally permitted, additional medication, delegation, or other specialized training responsibilities may be assigned based on the RN's qualifications and Michigan requirements. Ongoing Nursing Support As clients receive services, you'll remain an available clinical resource within the Shield Care Team.

Responsibilities may include:

Periodic nursing reassessment or quality visits Review of significant changes in condition Review of falls and clinically significant incidents Care-plan modifications Caregiver consultation Client-specific caregiver education Family education Appropriate communication with authorized healthcare providers Recommendations when a client's needs exceed Shield's current service capabilities Shield's operational systems, technology, workforce structure, family experience, policies, and business model are managed by Shield Supportive Services. We're looking for an RN who brings professional nursing judgment into that system. Your license will never be treated as a rubber stamp. When something is unsafe, clinically inappropriate, outside caregiver scope, or requires additional assessment, we trust your judgement to say so.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Active Michigan Registered Nurse license in good standing Graduate of an approved nursing education program Current CPR/BLS certification, or ability to obtain required certification before applicable assignment Strong assessment and documentation skills Ability to work independently in home and community settings Strong communication skills with clients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals Ability to teach and evaluate caregiver competencies Reliable transportation for required field visits Successful completion of Shield's employment and credential-verification process Preferred Experience in one or more of the following: Home care or home health Geriatric nursing Private-duty nursing Hospice Rehabilitation Skilled nursing Community nursing Case management Dementia care Chronic-condition management Caregiver/CNA education Staff competency validation Previous management experience is not required .

COMPENSATION

$45-$50/hour , based on experience and qualifications.

THE SHIELD CARE TEAM

Our clients aren't assigned only a caregiver. They're supported by a team. Depending on the client's services, that team may include: Primary Care Partner Provides scheduled day-to-day support. Backup Care Partner Provides continuity when additional coverage is necessary. RN Care Partner Provides appropriate nursing assessment, clinical care-plan review, caregiver education, competency support, and clinical guidance. Care Coordinator Supports scheduling, appointments, family communication, service coordination, and day-to-day operational needs. The RN Care Partner works alongside—not above or instead of—the other members of the team while maintaining independent professional nursing judgment.

TECHNOLOGY & DOCUMENTATION

Shield Care uses ShieldOS to organize care information, documentation, care plans, training, competency records, and communication. The RN Care Partner will use ShieldOS to review relevant client information, document nursing activities, review and modify applicable care-plan components, electronically sign applicable records, and track clinical follow-up. Technology helps organize the information. The RN makes the nursing decision.

We're looking for a nurse who is clinically confident, approachable with families, comfortable teaching caregivers, and capable of working independently. You don't need to want a traditional management position. You do need to care about whether the person entering a client's home is prepared to provide safe, respectful, individualized support. And when your nursing judgment tells you something needs to change, we want you to speak up.
