DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides advanced professional nursing care to inmates within a State Correctional Institution. It supports individuals with physical or mental health needs, injuries, illnesses, or disabilities. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

Patient Care:

Implement nursing care plans, check vital signs, administer medications, perform treatments, and provide education to support inmate health

Clinical Support:

Assist physicians with examinations and clinics, administer tests and immunizations, and provide counseling and health guidance

Emergency Response:

Perform assessments, deliver emergency care such as first aid, CPR, or AED, and coordinate referrals as needed

Record Management:

Record and retrieve information in the electronic health record, prepare reports, and maintain required documentation

Supply Maintenance:

Sterilize instruments, inventory supplies, and ensure adequate stock in all treatment areas Interested in learning more? Additional details regarding the duties of this position may be found in the position description.

Work Hours and Additional Information:

Full-time employment. 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts; 40-hour work week. Rotating off days. The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. 1st shift: 6:00 AM

• 2:30 PM; 2nd shift: 2:00 PM
• 10:30 PM; and 3rd shift: 10:00 PM
• 6:30 AM Work hours

Work schedule to be discussed during the interview. Additional hourly Shift Differential paid to those who work 2nd and 3rd shifts. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Special Requirements:

This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license. Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
