RN CASE MANAGER
Job Type:
Full-Time Position Summary The RN Case Manager is responsible for proactive medical case management of assigned injured workers, promoting appropriate utilization of healthcare resources and creating value for customers through quality, cost-effective outcomes and timely return to work when medically appropriate. This position applies clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice throughout the case management process to assess, evaluate, plan, implement, coordinate, and proactively manage care. The RN Case Manager collaborates with treating physicians and other members of the healthcare team regarding the injured worker's medical condition, treatment plan, and evidence-based treatment guidelines. The RN Case Manager establishes therapeutic nurse-patient relationships and effectively communicates medical conditions, treatment recommendations, and care plans to injured workers and their families. The RN Case Manager supports patient understanding and compliance while identifying barriers to care and working toward optimal clinical and functional outcomes. The position requires a strong commitment to customer service, proactive case management strategies, clinical advocacy, and clear communication. The RN Case Manager provides adjuster customers with timely updates, clinical recommendations, and evidence-based guidance to support informed claim and care decisions. Daily travel is required within an approximately two-hour service radius. Occasional overnight travel may be required for company meetings, training, or events. Position Requirements Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arkansas . Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical RN experience. Experience in case management, occupational medicine, home health/hospice, orthopedics, or workers' compensation is preferred. Certified Case Manager (CCM) certification is preferred. If the candidate does not hold a nationally recognized case management certification at the time of hire, CCM certification is required to be obtained within two (2) years of hire. Valid driver's license and good driving record. Proof of active automobile liability insurance. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude, including the ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office and case management technology. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability and willingness to travel daily within the assigned service area. Key Results Area #1: Demonstrates Excellence in the
Case Management Process The RN Case Manager:
a. Demonstrates accountability for compliance with Case Management Standards of Practice, company policies and procedures, Quality Assurance guidelines, and company goals. b. Maintains effective communication and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to promote continuity of care and a common goal of optimal recovery and timely return to work when appropriate. c. Identifies opportunities for case management intervention, addresses barriers to recovery, and develops strategies that promote appropriate, quality treatment. d. Assures appropriate and timely treatment, services, and transitions of care. e. Coordinates and facilitates services, including durable medical equipment, nursing services, and other medically necessary resources, while developing cost-effective strategies for the delivery of care. f. Collaborates with physicians, injured workers, employers, adjusters, attorneys, and other appropriate stakeholders in developing and implementing treatment plans. g. Monitors the injured worker's progress, treatment plan, interventions, and barriers to recovery and revises the plan of care as clinically appropriate. h. Evaluates outcomes and documents the impact of case management interventions on quality of care, clinical outcomes, return-to-work goals, and cost effectiveness. i. Utilizes and appropriately documents evidence-based treatment guidelines in the management of assigned cases. Key Results Area #2:
Delivers Exceptional Customer Service The RN Case Manager:
a. Meets established Quality Assurance standards and required timelines for service delivery and documentation. b. Maintains a courteous, professional, and collaborative relationship with claims professionals, employers, attorneys and their representatives, physicians and healthcare providers, injured workers, customers, coworkers, and other stakeholders. c. Provides timely, thorough, and meaningful reports and documentation that clearly communicate the status of the case and the value and impact of case management interventions. d. Provides adjuster customers with clinically appropriate recommendations, evidence-based guidance, and proactive communication to support effective claim management. e. Builds customer trust through responsiveness, professionalism, clinical knowledge, and consistent follow-through. f. Contributes to customer satisfaction through service that demonstrates the value of proactive case management. Key Results Area #3: Contributes to
Company Performance, Processes, and Culture The RN Case Manager:
a. Meets and maintains established productivity and billable service standards, with an average caseload of 18-24 FCE cases per month, as applicable to the assigned role and service area. b. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. c. Demonstrates computer proficiency and technical aptitude, including effective use of Microsoft Office and company case management systems. d. Organizes and schedules workload effectively to maximize efficiency, productivity, responsiveness, and customer service. e. Is responsive, dependable, punctual, and accountable while actively contributing to team and company goals. f. Consistently performs the responsibilities of the RN Case Manager role while meeting or exceeding established performance expectations. g. Takes ownership of professional development and maintains current clinical knowledge, case management expertise, and understanding of evidence-based practices. h. Supports a positive, collaborative company culture and contributes to the continuous improvement of company processes and services.
