Job Summary:
The Substitute Nurse supports the educational process by addressing the diverse health and wellness needs of students across the district. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations while promoting a safe and healthy school environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
?Serve as a liaison between students, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate access to necessary health services and resources. ?Collaborate with parents, students, healthcare providers, and community agencies to support student health needs and ensure compliance with legal requirements. ?Administer first aid, medications, and specialized medical treatments in accordance with applicable laws and district policies. ?Conduct mandated health screenings, including vision, dental, and scoliosis screenings. ?Provide care for ill, injured, medically fragile, and special needs students. ?Assess and respond to student health and safety concerns, including suspected abuse or substance use, in accordance with reporting requirements. ?Review and maintain immunization records to ensure compliance with state regulations. ?Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans, including those related to IEPs and 504 accommodations. ?Maintain accurate and confidential student health records, including emergency cards, screening results, and medical documentation. ?Prepare reports and documentation related to student health status and compliance requirements. ?Provide training and guidance to staff on health-related topics, including CPR/First Aid, emergency preparedness, and child abuse awareness. ?Refer students for additional medical, dental, or counseling services as needed. ?Report communicable diseases to appropriate public health authorities in accordance with legal requirements. ?Utilize appropriate assessment tools, technology, and medical equipment in a school setting. ?Analyze health-related situations and implement appropriate interventions. ?Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERENCE:
?Minimum of three (3) years of relevant nursing experience preferred.
EDUCATION
?Bachelor's Degree required.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE
?Current Rhode Island Registered Nurse (RN) License required. ?Rhode Island School Nurse Teacher Certification required. ?Current First Aid/CPR certification required. ?Valid Driver's License required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
?Ability to perform occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. ?Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
?Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. ?Must provide a current national background check with no disqualifying findings at the time of hire.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Per Diem/ $ 30.00 per hour
