1 Description American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Critical Access Hospital in South Dakota, requiring ED experience and the ability to float across multiple departments. Details 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week Med/Surg unit in a Critical Access Hospital with 12 Med/Surg beds Patient population includes Medical Surgical, intermediate level, outpatient infusions, and ED patients (ESI 1-5), with diagnoses including stroke, MI, and trauma Med/Surg patient ratio of 1:4-6 Travelers are required to float across all areas of the facility, including Medical Surgical, Outpatient Infusion, and the ED — ED experience is required CNA support available: 1-2 techs per 6-12 Med/Surg patients; one CNA assigned to the ED 24/7 charge nurse responsible for Med/Surg, ED, and outpatient areas Respiratory Therapy available in-house Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm; no on-call RT coverage Charting systems: Epic and Space Lab No on-call requirements Weekend rotation is self-scheduled with no set weekends; entire team rotates Time off requests are approved prior to contract start Requirements Active SD or Compact RN license required Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS; CPI preferred Minimum 1 year of experience required (may be a combination of ED and Med/Surg experience) ED experience required, including care of critical and unstable patients Medical Surgical inpatient care experience required Trauma experience required Experience working within a team nursing approach (RN + RT + Imaging) preferred Epic EMR experience preferred 2 professional references dated within the past year required for consideration DOB and SSN required for consideration Additional Information First-time travelers will not be considered for this position Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a travel nurse Orientation includes manager time and Epic/iLearn training on day one, followed by one day on Med/Surg and one day in the ED Opportunity to float to multiple areas within a single shift Holiday coverage will be assigned as needed RNs are required to wear navy blue scrubs Free parking is available on campus A Condition Snow Policy is in place: travelers scheduled during a Condition Snow event are expected to remain on shift or arrive early, consistent with permanent staff expectations, and will be compensated for all hours during the eventSimilar jobs in Custer, SD
