1 Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Med-Surg position in South Dakota, requiring both ED and Med/Surg experience and a valid SD or Compact RN license. Details Work setting is a 12-bed Medical Surgical unit within a hospital Patient population includes Med/Surg, intermediate level, and outpatient infusions, with diagnoses including stroke, MI, and trauma Patient ratio is 1:4-6 on the Med/Surg unit CNA support is available at a ratio of 1-2 techs per 6-12 patients Charge nurse coverage is available 24/7, serving as the resource nurse and IV/VAT resource RT is available in-house Monday-Friday, 7am-3pm (no on-call) Phlebotomy support is available on campus during business hours and on-call after hours Charting systems used are Epic and Space Lab Schedule is 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week Weekend rotation is self-scheduling with no set weekends required No on-call responsibilities Holiday coverage will be assigned as needed Time off requests are approved prior to contract start Floating within scope of practice and below Requirements Active RN license issued by the South Dakota Board of Nursing or a Compact RN license currently in hand Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and
PALS CPI
certification preferred Minimum 1 year of experience, which may be a combination of ED and Med/Surg Both ED and Med/Surg experience are required Experience with a team nursing approach (RN + RT + Imaging) preferred Two professional references dated within the past year are required for consideration DOB and SSN are required for consideration Additional Information Provide inpatient medical-surgical care to a diverse patient population including stroke, MI, and trauma cases Orientation includes a first-day session with the manager and Epic/iLearn online training, followed by one preceptored shift First-time travelers may be considered dependent on interview and fit Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible Former permanent staff must wait a full year before returning as a travel nurse Navy blue scrubs are required for RNs In the event of a Condition Snow designation, travelers on shift are expected to remain on-site consistent with permanent staff policy and will be compensated for all hours during the condition, including rest time
