Job Description

Avera Health is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care, perform assessments, administer medications, and coordinate treatment plans across interdisciplinary teams. You will educate patients and families, support safe transitions of care, and maintain accurate documentation. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care including assessments, care planning, and administration of medications and treatments Monitor, document, and report patient status, responding promptly to changes in condition Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members on care plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, and ongoing care needs Ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and quality standards Use electronic health records (EHR) to document care accurately and timely Support discharge planning and care transitions to promote optimal outcomes Participate in unit huddles, quality initiatives, and evidence-based practice improvements Precept or mentor new nurses and support staff as needed Uphold Avera Health's mission of compassionate, respectful, and dignified care Required Skills Patient assessment and clinical judgment Medication administration and IV therapy Care planning and care coordination Electronic Health Record (EHR) documentation Wound care and dressing changes Vital signs monitoring and interpretation Infection prevention and control practices Patient and family education Critical thinking and clinical decision-making Interdisciplinary team collaboration
