A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

Actively uses the nursing process in resident centered patient care, demonstrating accountability as an individual and team member. Synthesizes information from a variety of sources to develop and implement an individualized, age appropriate, collaborative plan of care. Provides timely, continuous, age appropriate, collaborative assessment and preparation of patients and family. Assesses patients' and families' age appropriate learning needs, coordinates necessary teaching and evaluates teaching outcomes. Demonstrates a knowledge of and utilizes safe and appropriate patient care protocol as set forth in the standards of practice and the unit/department policy and procedure manual relating to the needs of adult and geriatric patients. Documents in the medical record. Completes physician rounds as needed. Performs procedures with minimal supervision. Adheres to policies and procedures in the department manual. Education and/or
Experience/Licensure/Certification Education:
Eligible for or currently licensed as an LPN or an RN in the state of South Dakota. Basic Life Support is mandatory within six months of hire.
Experience:
Previous experience in Long Term Care is helpful, but not required. Pay Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
