Job Description

Category Nursing - RN - CVOR Job Type Contract Experienced cardiovascular operating room nurses are essential for a dynamic clinical environment specializing in high-acuity cardiac procedures. This contract opportunity involves working within a Level 1 trauma hospital with more than 1,000 beds and a 56-room OR suite (both inpatient and outpatient), supporting complex adult cardiac surgeries.
Schedule & Requirements:
12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 7:00 pm Shift days vary based on departmental needs (block schedules not available) Call required for all travelers, including weekday and weekend rotations (three layers of call, 24/7; requirements vary every six weeks) Mandatory orientation dates: 6/29, 7/6, 7/13, 7/20, or 7/27
Key Qualifications:
Active RN license with current credentials Minimum two years' experience in a CVOR setting Evidence of prior travel nursing assignments Proficient in both scrubbing and circulating adult cardiac procedures Experience with complex CABG, valve surgeries, repeat cardiac procedures, heart failure, ECMO, VAD, heart and lung transplant, PTE, cardiac trauma, and adult congenital heart cases Ability to float within the OR as required (pediatric surgeries handled separately) Strong clinical judgment and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Primary Responsibilities:
Scrub and circulate diverse and complicated cardiac surgical cases in a state-of-the-art facility Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary surgical and anesthesia team Demonstrate expert handling of specialized cardiac equipment and sterile techniques Respond rapidly to evolving patient conditions and support Level 1 trauma protocols Participate fully in the required call schedule, ensuring patient care consistency This position provides the chance to deepen your expertise within renowned cardiac surgery teams and advance your nursing practice among leading professionals.
