What they do

A Registered Nurse provides medical care and treatment, educates patients about their conditions, and provides emotional support to patients and families. Works in hospitals, schools, clinics or community health centers. Works under the supervision of a physician or other specialist, and serves as the primary point of care for patients in a hospital setting. May specialize in emergency room work, or treatment for a particular condition, or specialize in working with infants, the elderly or other patient groups. May work as an advanced practice specialists and prescribe medications in addition to offering specialty care.

PRIMARY PURPOSE
: Provide health services to students in the absence of the regular campus nurse. Support student success by promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of students, staff, and the school community.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) License or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License. Valid CPR Certification.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Practical knowledge of nursing procedures and techniques relevant to children. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while following district policies and procedures.
Experience:
School nursing experience preferred but not required. Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care and first aid to students. Administer medications and treatments according to district policies. Maintain accurate student health records and report concerns as needed. Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration. Consult with Lead Nurses or other campus nurses for support and guidance as necessary.
PAY:
$125 per day (RN or LVN)
