Role:
The Corporate Traveling Director of Nursing (DON) for Skilled Nursing and Long Term Care for HMG plays a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing nursing operations across multiple facilities in Texas and Kansas. This position requires a dynamic leader who can travel to various locations to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, implement best practices, and elevate the quality of patient care. The DON will collaborate closely with facility administrators, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute strategic initiatives that improve clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. By providing expert guidance and mentorship, the DON fosters a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among nursing teams. Ultimately, this role is essential in maintaining high standards of care and supporting the long-term success of the organization's skilled nursing facilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Texas with compact license. Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience in skilled nursing or long-term care settings. At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role such as Director of Nursing. Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing skilled nursing facilities, including CMS requirements. Ability and willingness to travel extensively across Texas and Kansas.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree. Certification in long-term care administration or nursing leadership (e.g., NHA, LNHA, or similar). Experience working in a corporate or multi-facility healthcare environment. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and clinical management software. Demonstrated success in quality improvement initiatives and staff development programs.
Responsibilities:
Travel to assigned skilled nursing and long-term care facilities to assess nursing operations and ensure regulatory compliance. Lead and support nursing staff by providing clinical guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote quality patient care and operational excellence. Collaborate with facility leadership to address challenges, optimize staffing, and improve resident outcomes. Monitor clinical metrics and quality indicators to identify areas for improvement and drive corrective action plans. Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, including CMS guidelines and accreditation standards. Facilitate communication between corporate leadership and on-site nursing teams to align goals and expectations. Participate in budget planning and resource allocation to support nursing department needs. Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
