Reporting for the Orthopedic Registered Nurse typically aligns under an Orthopedic/Ortho-Surgical Nurse Manager with support from a Director of Surgical Services and an experienced charge team, giving an Orthopedic RN direct access to mentoring, timely escalations, and shared decision-making; daily responsibilities for a Registered Nurse Orthopedic Surgery clinician include pre- and post-operative assessments, multi-modal pain management, early mobility protocols, DVT/SSI prevention, care coordination with orthopedic surgeons, anesthesia, hospitalists, PT/OT, pharmacy, and case management, patient and family education, precise documentation, throughput facilitation, participation in huddles, and opportunities to precept, join councils, and step into charge assignments within a welcoming, diverse, and collaborative team of nurses and allied health professionals.
