Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse Team Lead assesses, plans, directs, implements, and provides quality patient care for assigned patients including education directed toward individualized patient needs utilizing the nursing process in coordination with policies and procedures. This position directs patient care for licensed and ancillary staff. The Registered Nurse Team Lead has 2+ years of relevant experience.Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
Guides, educates, and provides leadership for all new and experienced staff. Assists with and provides input for performance appraisals, disciplinary action, reports, audits, surveys, and documentation in medical records, employee records, and computers. Ensures coverage and staff levels for all responsible units. Coordinates the department-specific orientation and training for employees, which may include, but is not limited to, initial unit-based, job-specific competencies, CBLs, clinic-specific testing, assisting with preceptors/mentors training and assignments, conducting annual needs assessments, and documenting and maintaining educational requirements for clinic staff. Plans, assesses, directs, implements, and provides quality patient care for assigned patients including modifying nursing care, medication administration, and discharge planning. Provides education directed towards individualized patient needs utilizing the nursing process in coordination with policies and procedures. Monitors changes in patient condition to include recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs, and intervening when appropriate. Performs complete data collection from patients with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaints, and pertinent history. Supports the culture of quality with the delivery of quality nursing care utilizing evidence-based practice to decrease the potential for infection, harm, or injury working with the interdisciplinary team. Actively participates in the performance improvement processes related to nursing practice. Communicates with patients and/or families using available resources and tools to provide age-appropriate, patient-preferred language to include demonstrated fluency and timely completion of all documentation requirements. Responsible to assist students in all disciplines to develop skills and an understanding of collaborative values, attitudes, and ideals in the care of patients and families. Conducts and coordinates patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable. Ensures teamwork and readiness to meet the daily challenges of a rapid-paced, high-acuity, culturally diverse work environment. Fosters a mentoring, supportive workplace climate contributing to the educational growth and development of team members, residents, and guest students. Works independently with guidance in only the most complex situations. May lead multiple projects and is accountable for ongoing objectives. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Leads staff and provides ongoing support to the department. Performs additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures. Required Qualifications:
Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing. 2+ years of relevant experience. Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state within 90 days. Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment. Completes AAP Neonatal Resuscitation within 3 months of hire date and maintains credentialing throughout employment. Must successfully complete, pass, and maintain all applicable and requisite training as established by each department in accordance with the JPS Clinical Job Specific Competency Validation Checklist. Completes the requisite certification and courses within the required timeframes, to include but not limited to: Competency-based orientation program within 180 days of employment Antepartum /Gynecology, OB Triage and Labor and Delivery. EKG course within 180 days of employment and maintained throughout employment for OB Triage and Labor and Delivery. AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 1 year of hire and maintained throughout employment for Antepartum/OB Triage/Labor Delivery. AWHONN Advances Fetal Monitoring within 2 years of completing the Intermediate Fetal Monitoring and maintained every 2 years throughout employment for Antepartum/OB Triage/Labor Delivery. Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment for Antepartum/OB Triage/Labor Delivery. Competency based orientation program of level 2 neonatal intensive care within 30 days of employment and level 3 & level 4 neonatal intensive care within 120 days of employment for NICU.Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing. Certification in the area of nurse specialty.Location Address:
