The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise in wound care management within diverse settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and post-acute care environments. This role offers an opportunity to provide specialized nursing care focused on wound healing, infection prevention, and patient education, contributing significantly to patient recovery and quality of life. The Wound Treatment Nurse will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities Assess and monitor patients' wounds, evaluating healing progress and identifying complications. Develop and implement comprehensive wound care plans based on current best practices and patient needs. Administer treatments such as dressings, medications, injections, and IV therapy with precision and adherence to protocols. Perform patient assessments including vital signs, physiology evaluation, and overall health status. Document all patient interactions, treatments, and progress accurately using EMR/EHR systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients and their families on wound care procedures, infection prevention, and lifestyle modifications to promote healing. Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care strategies. Maintain strict adherence to infection control standards and safety protocols within the clinical environment. Stay current with advances in wound management techniques and participate in ongoing professional development. Qualifications Valid nursing license with current registration in the state of practice. Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or specialized wound care settings such as Level I/II Trauma Centers or Geriatrics. Strong background in medical-surgical nursing, infectious disease care, or post-acute/sub-acute care environments. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation practices. Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, anatomy knowledge, physiology understanding, medication administration including injections and venipuncture. Certification or experience in basic life support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as wound care certification are preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of medical records and patient information. Experience working with diverse populations including outpatient clinics, urgent care centers, PICU or school health settings is advantageous.
