Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine care needs. Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols while monitoring for adverse reactions. Utilize advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks to document patient information meticulously. Manage complex medical procedures including IV infusions, catheterizations, suturing, ventilator management, and sterile techniques in accordance with best practices. Coordinate multidisciplinary care plans involving case management, discharge planning, and collaboration with physicians specializing in areas like cardiology, ophthalmology, infectious disease care, or geriatrics. Respond swiftly to acute pain management needs and participate in critical care situations within a Level I or Level II trauma center environment. Support infection control protocols and adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality at all times. Engage in ongoing education related to ICD-10 coding, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and advanced nursing procedures such as ostomy care or neonatal resuscitation procedures. Provide compassionate family education on treatment plans and post-discharge care for patients across diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health cases, or individuals with developmental disabilities. Skills Proven experience working with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; proficiency in medical documentation is essential. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to perform accurate patient assessments and diagnostic evaluations. Expertise in critical care environments such as ICU or trauma centers; familiarity with trauma medicine and acute care procedures is highly valued. Skilled in performing complex procedures including IV insertions, catheterizations (including cardiac catheterization), tube feeding management, and aseptic techniques. Experience working with diverse patient populations including long-term care residents, hospice & palliative medicine patients, or those requiring memory or dementia care. Ability to handle high-pressure situations involving emergency medicine or urgent care scenarios while maintaining calmness and precision. Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), laboratory testing procedures, and specimen collection/processing techniques. Excellent communication skills for effective triage assessments and interdisciplinary collaboration within hospital medicine settings. Knowledge of infection control standards aligned with NCQA standards; experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs is advantageous.
