Job Description

Advantis Medical Staffing is seeking a Med Surg Travel Nurse for a day-shift assignment in Waco, TX. In this role, you'll deliver high-quality medical-surgical care to adult inpatients, performing assessments, administering medications, and monitoring complex conditions. You'll collaborate with physicians and local staff, adapt quickly to unit routines and EMR systems, and support safe discharges through education and care coordination. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients on a travel assignment Administer medications, treatments, and monitor patient responses per provider orders Perform assessments, document accurately, and communicate changes in condition promptly Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team, and local nursing staff to coordinate care Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans Follow all hospital policies, infection control, and safety procedures Adapt quickly to new unit workflows, EMR systems, and hospital protocols Participate in hand-offs, care conferences, and quality or safety initiatives Required Skills Acute care medical-surgical nursing Patient assessment and clinical judgment IV therapy and medication administration Wound care and post-operative management Telemetry monitoring (if required by unit) Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation Infection prevention and control Care coordination and discharge planning Time management and prioritization Patient and family education
