This position is located in the Human Capital, Office of the Chief Medical Officer branch. The incumbent serves as the Senior Nurse Case Manager, responsible for managing and providing advice on fitness-for-duty, annual medical certifications, FMLA and medical evaluation of applicants across the agency.

Mandatory Education Requirement:
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(external link) , Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs(external link) , Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education(external link) , or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Foreign Nursing School :
Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Advanced Practice Nurse Positions:
For Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) positions, applicants must possess a graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty indicated by the position. Advanced Practice Nurse Positions:
Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position. In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower band level. To qualify for the SV-J Pay Band, you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-I in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as:
Experience providing occupational health support to security personnel, including medical clearances and work restrictions. Experience assisting with fitness for duty and FMLA. Experience coordinating with healthcare professionals, human resources staff and management officials in order to develop solutions to employees with medical conditions that could interfere with their job functions. Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
