  • Infusion (PRN & Part-Time) Valley Vital Care Virginia PRN / Part-Time Infusion experience required Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Infusion Nurse to join the Valley Vital Care team in Virginia.
We are currently hiring for both PRN and Part-Time positions. This vital role involves administering infusion therapies—including IV medications, biologics, and specialized treatments—to patients in our pharmacy suites as well as in the patient's home. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient assessment, aseptic technique, and medication administration, ensuring safe and effective care delivery. Valley Vital Care is an infusion pharmacy headquartered in Waynesboro, VA, servicing all of Virginia and West Virginia. We operate locations in Winchester, Strasburg, Midlothian, Waynesboro, Lynchburg, and Roanoke, Virginia, as well as Charleston, West Virginia. Our therapies include biologic therapy for chronic conditions, long
  • and short-term antibiotic therapies for self-administration, TPN, and enteral feedings.
Infusions range from 30 minutes to 4+ hours, with frequencies ranging from weekly to every 8 weeks. The potential exists for nurses to pick up as many or as few assignments as desired. The successful applicant will contribute to improving patient outcomes through expert infusion therapy and compassionate care.

Learn more: valleyvitalcare.com Duties Administer intravenous (IV) infusions, including medications, fluids, biologics, and specialized therapies in accordance with the treatment plan. Assess patient needs through comprehensive physical examinations and vital signs monitoring prior to and during infusion procedures. Initiate and maintain IV access for infusions; safely and accurately administer medications without errors, including oral, IM, SQ, and IV products. Maintain strict adherence to aseptic technique and infection control protocols during all procedures. Educate patients and their families about infusion processes, the treatment care plan, potential side effects, and post-treatment care; thoroughly document teaching and the response to teaching. Document all nursing interventions accurately within the patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and maintain ongoing compliance with state and federal regulations. Monitor patients for adverse reactions or complications during infusions and respond promptly with appropriate interventions; notify the supervising clinician of all abnormal findings. Demonstrate appropriate storage and handling of drug products as well as human specimens. Counsel and advise patients regarding symptom and side-effect management during therapy and within the scope of practice. Assist with specimen collection and processing when necessary for laboratory testing. Collect and record all patient data as required per the care plan and/or other protocol, and analyze patient trends and outcomes. Provide friendly and professional service in person, over the phone, and through written communications. Demonstrate empathy, compassion, and understanding to establish rapport and instill trust with patients and caregivers. Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals. Skills Proven experience with IV insertion, catheter care, and aseptic techniques in diverse clinical environments including home health and outpatient infusion settings. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical documentation. Knowledge of medication administration protocols related to infusion therapies, including biologic agents, antibiotics, TPN, and enteral feedings. Strong assessment skills including vital signs monitoring, physical examinations, and patient assessment techniques. Proficiency in infection control practices and sterile processing procedures. Excellent communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Ability to work independently in home health settings and manage time effectively across multiple patient assignments. Understanding of parenteral medication administration and the ability to detect changes in patient symptoms or health status, knowing when additional intervention is necessary.
