Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The Travel RN will utilize advanced EMR/EHR systems, maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations, and employ aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety. Your expertise will support the facility's commitment to excellence in critical care medicine, trauma management, and specialized treatments such as cardiac catheterization and dialysis. Responsibilities Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine immediate needs. Administer medications, IV infusions, and injections with precision while monitoring for adverse reactions. Manage ventilators, airway devices, and advanced life support equipment during critical situations. Perform invasive procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including cardiac and urinary), and specimen collection with sterile technique. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards. Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas such as cardiology, neurology, infectious disease care, and trauma medicine. Assist in triage processes for urgent cases and coordinate patient transfers or admissions as needed. Support discharge planning by providing education on medication administration, wound care, and post-hospital instructions. Participate in quality improvement initiatives aligned with NCQA standards and hospital protocols. Maintain competency in emergency response procedures including neonatal resuscitation procedures and acute pain management. Qualifications Valid RN license with current state registration; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred. Minimum of two years of ICU experience within a hospital setting; Level I or Level II trauma center experience highly desirable. Proven expertise in critical care procedures including ventilator management, ICD coding familiarity, laboratory experience, and infection control practices. Experience working with electronic medical record systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to acute care medicine. Ability to work independently during night shifts while maintaining high standards of patient safety. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
