Job Description
PRN / 1099
contractor basis providing primarily private, in-home post-operative recovery care. This is an ideal position for an RN who enjoys one-on-one patient care, values autonomy, and is looking for flexible work without a set schedule. Our nurses provide short-term, high-touch support to patients recovering after elective and surgical procedures in private homes, hotels, and other recovery settings. Position Overview As a Post-Op Concierge RN, you will provide individualized nursing care to patients during the immediate post-operative recovery period. Assignments are offered on an as-needed basis, and there is no required weekly schedule. You may accept or decline assignments based on your availability. The hours of each job vary based on client needs, but a typical shift would be 3am-3pm, and would require transporting the patient home from their procedure in your own private vehicle. Responsibilities Provide private, one-on-one post-operative nursing care Perform focused nursing assessments and monitor patient recovery Monitor vital signs, pain, nausea, hydration status, and overall condition Administer medications as ordered and within RN scope of practice Provide drain, incision, dressing care as appropriate Assist with ambulation, positioning, mobility, and fall prevention Reinforce surgeon discharge instructions and recovery expectations Communicate changes in condition or concerns to the appropriate provider or CNS clinical team Recognize and respond appropriately to post-operative complications Initiate peripheral IV access when clinically indicated and ordered, including administration of normal saline for patients experiencing hypotension or dehydration Provide clear, timely clinical documentation following each assignment Maintain a calm, professional, polished presence in private client environments Qualifications Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills Experience in PACU, ER, ICU, medical-surgical, ambulatory surgery, or post-operative care strongly preferred Strong peripheral IV placement skills Comfortable working independently in a private-home setting Excellent communication and bedside manner Reliable, professional, and highly responsive Must have reliable transportation and be comfortable traveling to client locations Current BLS certification required Schedule This is a PRN / as-needed contracted position with no guaranteed hours and no set schedule. When an RN shift is needed, it is posted to a job board. You would have the ability to read about them, then choose to accept or decline. It is commonly a one-time shift as opposed to an ongoing assignment. Assignments vary based on patient needs and may include daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, and occasionally short-notice requests. Nurses are able to accept assignments based on their individual availability. This position works well for nurses who want to supplement an existing hospital, clinic, or other nursing position while maintaining flexibility.
