$106,260 - $174,240 Annually This position requires travel to DOC facilities and offices throughout the state. The Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking an experienced nursing professional to lead and support statewide occupational health initiatives that promote a healthy, safe, and reliable workforce. As part of the Employee & Organizational Support Division and the Occupational Health and Wellness Unit (OHWU), the goal of the Registered Nurse 4 (RN4) is to be a key role in supporting DOC's commitment to our team members health and wellness, while advancing the agency's mission to improve public safety. The Registered Nurse provides clinical nursing expertise, consultation, and leadership for the statewide Occupational Health program. The candidate of choice will have oversight of the centralized Labor & Industries (L&I) claims management program, including L&I cases involving incarcerated individuals classified as workers and individuals under DOC supervision. The position provides guidance and supervision of OHWU nursing activities and plans, evaluates, and supports the delivery of occupational health services to DOC employees, contractors, and volunteers. Through preventative health programs, health and wellness initiatives, clinical consultation, and support for healing, coping, and adjustment to health conditions, the RN4 helps foster a safer and healthier workplace across the agency. The role requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration, and leadership to ensure occupational health services are responsive to the needs of DOC's diverse workforce and aligned with agency priorities. As a Registered Nurse 4 , some of your duties will include: Occupational Health Service Unit tasks to include: Providing strategic system leadership for Occupational Health & Wellness Unit Coordinating, managing, planning, and developing policies and procedures to provide high quality and consistent employee health services that meet or exceed all internal and external regulatory or department requirements Developing and implementing strategic plans and annual operating goals consistent with the strategic direction, objectives, and current DOC policies Assuring collection, monitoring and reporting of data and health information practices to assure proper custodianship of employee health records and trends analysis as well as all required regulatory reporting Collaborating with Employee Health & Safety teams on occupational health compliance and infectious disease policies, standards, programs application, and implementation Evaluating staff development within the performance evaluation of the Occupational Health Units through on-site visits, continuous monitoring, self-assessments and audits Providing direction and consultation on clinical issues in consultation with DOC Health Services clinical staff and Department of Health staff as appropriate Collaborating with leadership and developing and providing clinical guidance Reviewing and monitoring infectious outbreaks Integrating knowledge of medical and nursing concepts Ensuring compliance with regulatory standard for healthcare DOC policies, collective bargaining process and impacts of federal and state legislative processes DOC Workers Compensation Claims Management Participating on teams, committees and task groups and ensure the involvement of HR staff members in the same Developing an implementation of DOC Wellness Plan Qualifications What we need (required qualifications): Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing A valid, unrestricted Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse Five years' experience as a Registered Nurse within the field of occupational health or related field, such as community/public health or infection prevention Two years in a lead capacity over other nursing personnel In addition to the above education and experience, the below knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies are required: Ability to work independently Ability to manage and lead others; build coalitions among constituents and stakeholder groups; independently solve problems; facilitate group meetings; effectively communicate verbally and in writing; analyze data to produce meaningful information; negotiate and mediate disputes Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining professional relationships and fostering partnerships and team building to accomplish multi-faceted projects. Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and awareness of keys to building successful relationships with diverse individuals and groups Ability to work within tight time frames and deadlines, with multiple priorities Detail oriented, with the ability to identify potential problems before they occur Demonstrated ability with computer literacy in Microsoft programs Proficient competence in utilizing information technology processes and machines (computer, telephone, copy machine, Microsoft Windows programs including Excel, Fax, etc.) What will make your application stand out (preferred qualifications): Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university whose accreditation is recognized by the US Department of education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation Two years or more experience in occupational health or related field, such as community/public health or infection prevention

Telework Details This position may be allocated for telework. Full-time employees who work full monthly schedules qualify for holiday compensation if they are employed before the holiday and are in pay status for at least 80 nonovertime hours during the month of the holiday; or for the entire work shift preceding the holiday. Part-time employees who are in pay status during the month of the holiday qualify for the holiday on a pro-rata basis. Compensation for holidays (including personal holiday) will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status in the month to that required for full-time employment, excluding all holiday hours. Pay status includes hours worked and time on paid leave. Sick Leave Full-time employees earn eight hours of sick leave per month. Overtime eligible employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month, earn a monthly proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Overtime exempt employees who are in pay status for less than 80 hours per month do not earn a monthly accrual of sick leave. Sick leave accruals for part-time employees will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. (1) or the applicable collective bargaining agreement (CBA) on a pro rata basis. Vacation leave accrual will be proportionate to the number of hours in pay status, in the month to that required for full-time employment. Pay status includes hours worked, time on paid leave and paid holiday. As provided in WAC 357-58-175, an employer may authorize a lump-sum accrual of vacation leave or accelerate the vacation leave accrual rate to support the recruitment and/or retention of a candidate or employee for a Washington Management Service position. Note:
Most agencies follow the civil service rules covering leave and holidays for exempt employees even though there is no requirement for them to do so. However, agencies are required to adhere to the applicable RCWs pertaining holidays and leave. Military Leave Washington State supports members of the armed forces with 21 days paid military leave per year.
