Summary:

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing ambulatory nursing care to patients and families in the tribal clinic and within the scope of practice outlined by the State of Wisconsin Board of Nursing, and supervise clinic staff. Support the goals/mission of the Tribe and Health Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as assigned.

• Responsible for integrating ANA standards of care into the clinic setting; conducting Assessments, such as collecting subjective health histories from clinic patients to identify health problems.
• Identify patients requiring priority attention and arrange for appropriate care; report abnormal diagnostic data to primary care provider; implement and evaluate nursing care; record clearly and accurately.
• Relevant information regarding the conditions of the patient, current nursing intervention, testing requirements, referral and follow-up visits with direction from the physician/FNP, and status of coordinated activities between nursing and other professional disciplines in the health record using Electronic Health records.
• Participate in planning to include immediate and long-term goals and plans for patient education.
• Participate in the management of the day-to-day clinic operation and maintenance; serve as an advocate for patients and families.
• Participate in patient care conferences with other clinic staff members; follow-up patients referred to other services.
• Counsel patients, provide education on the disease, and preventative health measures; prepare patient and equipment required for examination and/or treatment by physician/FNP.
• Check exam room supplies, clean exam room after each patient, sterilize instruments; assist physician/FNP with examinations, intravenous medications, and immunizations as prescribed by physician/FNP or standing orders; provide first-aid treatment of minor illness according to written standing orders.
• Perform laboratory tests including hematocrit, blood sugar, strep tests, pregnancy tests, vein puncture for other lab tests, and specimens for laboratory analysis; document nursing services provided.
• Participate in specialty clinics; consult with and keep physician/FNP informed of pertinent clinic operations performed by RN; initiate referrals to CHN, Mental Health, Alcohol program, or other appropriate members of the Health Service Staff.
• Comply with reporting requirements; PCP report must be completed on each patient seen; monthly narrative to Health Director, FNP, Health Board, Tribal Council, and IHS.

Pay:

Up to $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
