POSITION SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse First Assistant assists the surgeon with exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other technical tasks during surgery, ensuring safety and optimal patient outcomes under the surgeons supervision and in accordance with hospital policies.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Assists the surgical team to prepare and organize sterile supplies, instruments, equipment, and drapes for surgical procedures.
Assists the surgical team to position the patient for the surgical procedure in a manner to provide a safe patient experience.
Assists in providing visualization and utilizes appropriate techniques to assist with hemostasis.
Utilizes appropriate visualization of the operative site.
Assists with closure of body planes utilizing appropriate techniques.
Applies appropriate wound dressing.
Assists in inserting and securing drainage systems to tissue.
Safely utilizes surgical equipment and supplies such as pneumatic tourniquets, electrocautery, and endoscopy equipment.
Performs other duties as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin.
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program or other recognized first-assisting education program.
BLS certification within 6 months of hire.1+ years of related operating room/surgical experience preferred.
Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required.

Normal Shifts:
Monday through Thursday 7am- 530pm Call one weekend out of a month, 7 additional nights of call during the month.
