1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for an Ortho-Neuro unit requiring a WV or compact RN license and prior orthopedic patient care experience. Details Acute care Med-Surg unit specializing in Ortho-Neuro care with 33 private-room beds Patient ratio of 1 to 6 Patient population includes elective ortho surgeries (hips, knees, shoulders), fall-related fractures, neuro-surgical back and neck cases, and general Med-Surg diagnoses Uses PCA pumps and manages IV fluids; RNs are not required to titrate drips Remote telemetry monitoring available as needed; RNs are not required to read strips

EPIC EMR

system used for charting 12-hour day shifts scheduled 0700-1930 with a half-hour lunch break Every-other-weekend requirement, with weekend shifts on Saturday and Sunday for day shift Holiday coverage required based on unit staffing needs Travelers float first, primarily to other Med-Surg units, and if floated to Tele are assigned patients within their skill set Possible low census call-off depending on contract terms Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required BLS certification (AHA) required

experience required Prior experience caring for orthopedic patients and using PCA pumps required Unexpired copy of driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Unit has a Charge Nurse on all shifts; night Charge Nurse always carries a full patient assignment Supported by Patient Care Techs handling vitals, blood sugar checks, ADLs, and Foley catheter removal Respiratory equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow managed by Respiratory Therapy Scrub color is royal blue; scrub jackets optional but must be royal blue with no hoodies or sweat-jackets allowed Orientation includes 1 day of EPIC training followed by 1 day on the floor with a preceptor before working independently Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel positplatform, as no local travelers are accepted Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine facility must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying Travelers are limited to working within the WVU system for up to one year before requiring a 2-year break
