1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg unit requiring
BLS, NIHSS
certification, and telemetry familiarity. Details Acute care Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) with 30 beds Patient ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7 Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, AKI, and post-surgical cases (chole, appy) Telemetry monitored remotely by dedicated monitor techs Intermittent BIPAP use; no ventilator management required RNs required to titrate heparin drips based on aPTT results One charge RN staffed per shift, with PCT support on the unit 12-hour day shifts, including weekends as scheduled (approximately half of total weekends) Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first No standby or on-call requirements

used Navy blue scrubs required Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Acute care Med/Surg experience preferred Comfortable with drip titration (heparin) based on lab values Unexpired driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Deliver Med/Surg nursing care to a diverse adult patient population with varied acute diagnoses Collaborate with charge RN and PCT support staff on the unit Unit is transitioning scheduling systems to QGenda Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility; local travelers not accepted Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per 13-week contract First-time travelers may be considered for this position Previous WVU Medicine travelers must have completed a 2-year break before reapplying Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than one year without taking a 2-year break; cumulative experience applies
