1 Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PACU position requiring ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications along with telemetry interpretation skills. Details Acute care setting covering PACU/Recovery (inpatient and outpatient), Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic areas Recovers general, neuro, thoracic, interventional (Cath lab/radiology), and simple procedure cases, as well as ICU patients (excluding open hearts) Predominantly 3, 12-hour shifts (Mon-Fri, 9-9, 11-11, or occasional 8-8), with possible 8s or 10s based on unit needs Uses Allscripts and Sunrise EMR systems Typical PACU ratios for Phase 1 & Phase 2 care Each unit has a dedicated charge nurse who also carries a patient assignment Supported by UA2 aides cross-trained as NAs and receptionists RT available 24/7 and manages ventilators; pharmacy in-house 24/7 with Pyxis Requires telemetry strip reading and interpretation Floating required between inpatient/outpatient PACU, Surgery Center, and Anesthesia Clinic Weekend call is one 24-hour shift per month (7am-7am) Additional overnight call requirement of 2 shifts per month (11pm-7am) Holiday call rotation required alongside permanent staff (24-hour shifts, 7am-7am) No standard on-call requirement outside of the above call schedules Requirements Active WV or Compact RN license required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required Must be comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips Must be flexible with start times and stay until assigned cases are complete Unexpired driver's license required for consideration Additional Information Provide post-anesthesia recovery care across inpatient, outpatient, surgery center, and anesthesia clinic settings 2-3 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided Scrubs provided for all areas except the Anesthesia Clinic, where staff must supply their own navy blue scrubs Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility, and local candidates are not accepted Previous WVU Medicine employees or travelers must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying Travelers may not work within WVU Medicine for longer than one cumulative year without taking a 2-year break Facility will eventually consolidate into one unified area where staff handle both pre- and post-op care First-time travelers may be considered for this position
