Outpatient Registered Nurses (RNs) Needed at Sheridan VA Medical Center Wander Staffing is seeking two (2) Outpatient Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide on-site outpatient nursing care to Veterans at the Sheridan VA Medical Center in Sheridan, Wyoming.
LOCATION
Sheridan VA Medical Center (Sheridan VA Health Care System), 1898 Fort Road, Sheridan, WY 82801 (100% on-site)
COMPENSATION
Day Shift:
$42/hr Night $44/hr
Weekend/Holiday:
$46/hr W2 position Paid sick leave, paid vacation, and 11 paid federal holidays
SCHEDULE
Full-time:
80 hours every two weeks The VA operates 24/7. Shifts are primarily 12 hours (some units offer 8-hour shifts) and may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, varying by unit The VA may change duty hours to meet patient care needs, with 24 hours' notice

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Graduate of a state-approved nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE at completion Current RN license in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or DC; NPI BLS (ACLS also required if assigned to a specialty clinic) Minimum one (1) year of direct patient care within the last three (3) years VA credentialing and privileging (VetPro) before starting, with ongoing competency review; current CEUs; physical exam within 30 days before applying for privileges Before your first shift: negative TB test (TST or IGRA) within the past year (chest x-ray if positive); MMR and varicella immunity; Tdap; annual flu vaccine (or masking); Hepatitis B immunity or series started; Hepatitis C titer; bloodborne pathogen training Able to pass a Tier 2 (Moderate Risk) background investigation and obtain a VA PIV card; eligible to work in the U.S. (E-Verify); not listed on the HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities DUTIES Provide direct and indirect nursing care with independent judgment and an interdisciplinary approach: take patient and family history, assess, plan, re-assess, and revise care; perform critical care nursing for ICU patients Verify and carry out physician orders (verbal orders accepted per facility policy), including medication orders from the previous shift Administer medications and IV therapies and document patient response; interpret cardiac rhythms; operate defibrillators, EKG machines, cardiac monitors, and other emergency equipment; know common emergency drugs and the crash cart Recognize emergencies, start life-saving measures when no physician is present, and assist with surgical and diagnostic procedures Assess intake and output every shift, review lab data and records, perform skin assessments to prevent Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers (HAPU), and care for patients with catheters and prostheses Teach patients and families about medications, therapies, and procedures, record their understanding, and participate in discharge planning
