ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greeting and checking patients in and out Scheduling patients Performing various clerical duties as well as intake/patient information Providing patients with support and guidance as needed to answer questions about their appointments, account information, insurance filing, co-payments, etc. or directing callers to appropriate department. Function in a multi-tasking, multiple priorities environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Verifying insurance with knowledge of medical insurance and fee schedules and utilization of a wide variety of office technology and tools to collect, enter and process insurance eligibility and precertification Process payments from patients such as co-payments, deductibles, and outstanding balances Other front or back office duties and assistance with clinical staff as assigned Training as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED required (Associate Degree Preferred) 1+ years' experience in medical billing or medical office work Skills in typing, word processing, excel spreadsheets, and document/file management Outstanding telephone, secretarial, communication and computer skills Knowledge of practice management software (Advanced MD and Modernizing Medicine) preferred Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks based on importance Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Self-directed and able to work independently Critical thinking skills and a "teamwork mind-set" Must be organized, task oriented, energetic and possess a positive, professional attitude Pays attention to detail and is friendly and courteous at all times
