QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must have a minimum of one year of front office experience in a medical office or healthcare setting. High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred. Previous experience in collecting money is preferred. Requires knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, medical terminology, HIPAA Guidelines, and computer scheduling systems. Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for preparing new patient paperwork, identifying, and collecting co-payments, co-insurances, and past-due account balances. Evaluates patient financial status and establishes payment plans based upon authority levels. Screens upcoming and follow-up appointments for required referrals and/or authorizations; ensures all required referrals and/or authorizations are scanned into the patient's chart and attached to the correct appointment(s). Responsible for maintaining a secure and accurate cash drawer, ensuring the cash box always has the prescribed amount. Responsible for daily balancing of cash drawer and closing batch. Maintains strictest patient confidentiality. The Front Office Representative is responsible for greeting and acknowledging all new and returning patients.
