A Registrar or Patient Service Representative provides direct assistance to patients at a health care or long term care facility. Answers questions and helps resolve complaints; provides liaison with health care providers; may assist with coordinating appointments or addressing billing or insurance issues.
The Patient Access Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while ensuring timely and accurate patient registration, insurance verification, and appointment processing. This role serves as the first point of contact for patients, collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information, obtaining required documentation and signatures, and ensuring all physician orders and patient records are complete before services are rendered. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and experienced using Epic to support efficient patient access workflows.
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of Epic EMR experience. 2+ years of patient registration, patient access or hospital admissions experience. Experience verifying insurances, benefits and authorizations. 3+ years of hospital/outpatient administrative experience. Key Responsibilities Register patients accurately and efficiently while collecting demographic, insurance, and account information. Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements, ensuring all information is entered accurately into Epic. Calculate and collect patient financial responsibility, including copays, deductibles, and other applicable payments. Obtain required patient signatures, consent forms, and registration documentation. Review physician orders and attach them to the appropriate patient medical record to ensure accurate testing and services. Print, organize, and distribute patient registration paperwork to the appropriate department. Answer patient questions regarding registration, insurance, financial responsibility, and organizational policies with professionalism and compassion. Escort patients to the appropriate department or coordinate assistance as needed. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, organizational policies, and departmental procedures.
