Job Description
Overview Job Summary The Admitting Representative interviews the patient or his/her representative to obtain identifying and verifying information, such as patient/s name, address, age, date of birth, social security number, occupation, insurance information and obtaining authorization. Also, have the capabilities of interfacing with the PBX operator and reception areas. Must be able to operate a computer to input and retrieve data. Ability to communicate with the population served, utilizing age specific techniques from neonatal, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle adult to geriatrics. Maintain proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be given with expectations to be completed in a specified timeframe. Responsibilities Interviews & registers patients in a professional manner. Accurately enters information and completes the registration process Is careful in the selection/creation of existing MRN numbers to not create duplicates Completes registration process in a timely manner Obtains all required signatures and distributes them appropriately. Records pertinent data on department specific sign in logs with accuracy. Accurately scans Admitting documents and patient signature forms into the scanning systems; indexes documents correctly into the proper document types. Collects monies and issues receipts for payment with 100% accuracy Makes collection attempt when patient has financial liability Demonstrates excellent customer services skills Properly and courteously answers inquiries by telephone Responds to inquiries in an informative way while adhering to hospital policy Verifies insurance eligibility on every patients Documents within every patients account; eligibility verification, collection efforts and all other pertinent information.
