Clinic Float Job Summary:
The Clinic Float provides cross-functional support throughout the clinic, including business office functions and Patient Access areas, including front desk, Benefits Verification, Charge Entry, Radiology Scheduling and Surgical Scheduling. This position assembles, interprets, analyzes, and enters patient demographic and financial information into the EHR systems while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with hospital policies and procedures. For the right candidate with appropriate training and experience, clinical duties, such as medical assistant duties may also be included in this role.Reports To:
Clinic Manager and Director Hourly range: $21.09 to $31.98 (posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)Essential Job Functions:
Floats between Clinic departments based on operational needs, staffing coverage, and workload demands. Provides support to Charge Entry, Front Desk, Scheduling, and Benefits Verification functions as assigned. May include support for clinical areas including supporting the providers with the appropriate training, experience and education. Maintains flexibility and competency across multiple departmental workflows. Greets patients and families promptly and courteously upon arrival. Registers patients and verifies demographic and insurance information for accuracy and completeness. Reviews all patient forms for completeness, accuracy, and required signatures. Collects co-pays, deposits, and required documentation in accordance with established hospital Provides clear instructions regarding forms, patient rights, and required documentation as applicable. Maintains confidentiality in matters pertaining to patients, physicians, staff, and hospital operations. Schedules surgical and radiology procedures in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols. Coordinates scheduling logistics including documentation requirements and patient instructions. Communicates scheduling information effectively with patients, providers, and internal departments. Adjust schedules and appointments as needed to support operational efficiency. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits prior to services as assigned. Assist patients with basic insurance and financial inquiries within scope of role. Identifies and escalate coverage or financial concerns to appropriate staff or leadership. Assists with accurate and timely entry of charges into hospital systems as assigned. Reviews documentation for completeness prior to charge entry. Collaborates with clinical and administrative departments to ensure accurate charge capture. Additional Duties Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.Minimum Requirements Education:
High School diploma or its equivalent.Certification, Licensure:
None requiredExperience:
Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years' experience as an Admissions clerk, Benefits clerk or Health Information Services in a hospital setting is preferred. On the job training is available.Preferred:
Previous experience as a Medical Assistant. Certification from a Medical Assistant program. Physical Requirements This position requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to ten (10)+ pounds. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, handling, and balancing 5 or more hours per day.Sensory and communicative activities including:
hearing seeing and speaking to be able to carry out essential job functions. Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary. Animas Health Immunizations and Vaccinations Requirements Aligns with CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) for Healthcare Personnel Hepatitis B- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Hepatitis B or three doses Hep B vaccine at appropriate intervals Influenza
- documentation of current seasonal flu vaccine (mandatory from November 1st through March 31st each year) Measles, Mumps, and Rubella
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Measles, Mumps, and Rubella or 2 doses of MMR Vaccination Varicella (chickenpox)
- Lab evidence of immunity (titer) to Varicella or 2 doses of Varicella Vaccine Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap)
- documented proof of immunization Tuberculosis Screening
- Documentation of a two-step TB skin test within the past year OR lab verification of a negative TB Gold or T-Spot tuberculin test within the past 6 months
- Vaccine records or evidence of immunity are required prior to 1 st day of scheduled work.
