Encompass Health seeks a Direct Patient Care Occupational Therapist to provide hands-on rehabilitation services in our inpatient setting. You will evaluate patients recovering from major illness or injury, create individualized treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based interventions that restore function and independence. Working within an interdisciplinary team, you'll collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and therapists, educate patients and families, and maintain thorough documentation. Responsibilities Provide direct patient care occupational therapy for individuals recovering from illness, injury, or surgery in an inpatient rehabilitation setting Evaluate patients' functional abilities and develop individualized treatment plans and goals Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve mobility, self-care, and independence Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, PTs, and speech therapists to coordinate care Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and use of adaptive equipment Document assessments, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge recommendations in accordance with regulatory and facility standards Participate in team conferences, care planning, and quality improvement initiatives Mentor and support therapy staff and students as appropriate, promoting best practices in rehabilitation Required Skills Occupational therapy evaluation and treatment Inpatient rehabilitation practice Functional mobility and ADL training Neurologic and orthopedic rehab techniques Therapeutic exercise and activity modification Use and prescription of adaptive equipment Patient and family education Interdisciplinary care coordination Clinical documentation and EMR usage Discharge planning and home program development
