About the
Role:
The Admitting Representative plays a critical role in Larkin Community Hospital by serving as the first point of contact for patients entering a medical facility. This position is responsible for efficiently managing patient admissions, ensuring accurate collection and verification of personal and insurance information, and facilitating a smooth and welcoming experience. The Admitting Representative collaborates closely with clinical and administrative teams to coordinate patient flow and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations. By maintaining meticulous records and handling sensitive information with confidentiality, this role supports both patient satisfaction and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Admitting Representative contributes to the overall quality of care by ensuring that the admission process is seamless, accurate, and patient-centered.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service role, preferably in patient admissions or registration. Basic knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance processes. Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field. Experience with specific hospital admission software or patient management systems. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards. Bilingual abilities to assist a diverse patient population. Certification in medical office administration or patient access services.
Responsibilities:
Greet and assist patients and their families during the admission process, providing clear information and answering questions. Collect, verify, and enter patient demographic, insurance, and medical information accurately into the healthcare facility's electronic systems. Coordinate with clinical staff to confirm patient appointments, bed availability, and admission requirements. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and facility policies related to patient privacy and data security. Manage admission documentation, including consent forms and financial agreements, and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly. Communicate effectively with insurance providers to verify coverage and obtain necessary authorizations. Maintain organized records and generate reports related to admissions as required by management.
