Job Description

Job Purpose:
The Patient Account Clerk I is responsible to collect demographic and admission information, admit clients, verify all information, and will obtain proper signatures on all required documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and manage patient billing and account transactions accurately and efficiently. Review and verify patient insurance information to ensure proper billing. Respond to patient inquiries regarding account status and billing issues in a professional and courteous manner. Maintain detailed and organized financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations. Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing discrepancies and improve processes. Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements as required. Ensure confidentiality and security of patient financial information. Provide support to the finance team with additional tasks and projects as needed.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Required Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in a clerical or administrative role, preferably in a healthcare setting. Experience with patient billing and account management is highly desirable.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in using office software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on customer service. Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. Familiarity with healthcare billing systems and electronic health records (EHR) is an advantage. Problem-solving skills with the ability to address and resolve billing inquiries and discrepancies.
