Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Medical Referral Specialist to join our practice in Savannah. In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating patient referrals, following up on referrals, ensuring seamless communication between providers, insurance companies, and patients. Responsibilities Manage and process patient referrals by verifying insurance coverage, obtaining necessary authorizations, and coordinating with healthcare providers. Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to document referral details accurately and maintain comprehensive medical records. AthenaHealth a plus. Conduct insurance prior authorization procedures by reviewing health insurance policies, understanding managed care requirements, and submitting necessary documentation. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, insurance companies, and external agencies to resolve issues promptly and provide exceptional customer service. Qualifications Prior referrals experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of health insurance policies, managed care processes, and insurance verification procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with diverse populations.
