Job Description

To assist in all in-coming and out-going patient care services and clerical services needed to insure good patient care and public contact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Registers in-patients and out-patients upon arrival at the hospital. Complies with all hospital and departmental procedures, safety program requirements, corporate compliance program standards of conduct, all applicable statutes, rules and regulations. Obtain and verifies health insurance information. Assists personnel in obtaining necessary signatures to ensure proper care. Collects co-payments from patients. Acts as communications coordinator for the hospital through the telephone intercom system. Verifies outpatient petty cash after each shift. Schedules appointments for specialty clinics. Monitors all outpatient financial/departmental reports/assignments. Announces termination of visiting hours over the intercom system. Secures area before leaving at the end of the evening shift. Maintains skills and knowledge through the participation in educational programs. Ensures completion of all necessary admissions documentation for both in-patients and out-patients.
Physical Demands:
Prolonged sitting with occasional standing and walking. Frequent handling and fingering. Pushing 25 pounds, occasional carrying to 5 pounds. Continuous use of corrected vision
Mental Demands:
High concentration and alertness level required. Frequent attention to detail. Ability to handle difficult situations
Communication Demands:
Ability to read and write legibly. Ability to make basic arithmetical computations. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Must be able to understand and speak fluent English.
Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge of hospital billing procedures. Familiar with medical terminology and previous computer experience preferred. Ability to accurately type documents ( Required ).
Education/Training:
High school diploma or equivalent ( Required ).
Experience:
Computer and Microsoft office experience (Preferred) . Customer service skill and experience.
