$18/hr-$21/hr Position Overview City Staffing is seeking experienced Patient Access Representatives / Registrars for anticipated opportunities with leading healthcare organizations throughout the Chicagoland area. The Patient Access Representative serves as a critical first point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless registration and check-in experience while maintaining accurate patient, insurance, and financial records. The ideal candidate has previous Epic experience, strong customer service skills, and a proven background in patient registration, insurance verification, or healthcare administration. Key Responsibilities Register and check in patients for inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and specialty healthcare services. Accurately enter and update patient demographic, insurance, and financial information in Epic. Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to services. Collect and review required patient documentation, consent forms, and signatures. Review patient accounts for completeness and resolve registration discrepancies. Explain registration requirements, policies, and procedures to patients and families. Provide exceptional customer service while communicating with patients, providers, nursing staff, and other departments. Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Process patient information accurately while managing a high-volume workload. Escalate complex registration or insurance issues as needed. Support department productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction goals. Required Qualifications Previous Epic experience required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong data entry, organizational, and customer service skills. Knowledge of patient registration and insurance verification processes. Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications 1-2+ years of patient access, patient registration, admissions, or related healthcare experience. Hospital or health system experience strongly preferred. Experience verifying insurance eligibility and benefits. Knowledge of medical terminology. Experience working in a high-volume healthcare setting. Revenue cycle or patient financial services experience is a plus. Ideal Candidate Experienced with Epic and healthcare registration workflows. Comfortable interacting with diverse patient populations. Able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy. Demonstrates strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Provides compassionate, patient-centered service. Has a stable work history and commitment to excellence in healthcare support.
